Compact flow range
HM3 Series
Compact G3/8 monoblock valves for lower-flow systems, with the widest spool-count range and a broad choice of mechanical and assisted controls.
HM monoblock control valves
Compare the compact HM3, mid-flow HM7 and high-flow HM11 families, then specify the spool functions, controls, relief and outlet arrangement around the machine and duty.

Choose the valve size
Start with the required flow, pressure, number of functions and port size. The final choice still depends on the complete hydraulic circuit and how each service must behave.
Compact flow range
Compact G3/8 monoblock valves for lower-flow systems, with the widest spool-count range and a broad choice of mechanical and assisted controls.
Mid-flow range
G1/2 monoblock valves for medium-flow circuits, available from one to six spools with parallel circuitry and configurable control functions.
High-flow range
High-flow G3/4 monoblock valves for larger circuits, available from one to four spools with the same application-led configuration approach.
| Series | Nominal flow | Maximum opening pressure | Spool range | Main ports | Standard circuit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HM3 | 45 L/min | 250 bar | 1-8 | G3/8 | Parallel on HM3/1-HM3/7; HM3/8 documented as series |
| HM7 | 70 L/min | 250 bar | 1-6 | G1/2 | Parallel |
| HM11 | 160 L/min | 250 bar | 1-4 | G3/4 | Parallel |
Nominal flow and pressure ratings are orientation points, not a complete valve selection.
How we specify it
A useful enquiry does not need a completed valve code. Tell us what the machine must do and we can work through the circuit details with you.
Describe the machine, actuator movements, loads, cycle frequency and any hold, float or regenerative functions.
Confirm expected pump flow, operating pressure, return-line conditions and acceptable back pressure.
Allow one correctly specified service section for each hydraulic function the valve must control.
Choose double or single acting behaviour, neutral flow paths, float and any special circuit requirement.
Select manual lever, cable or joystick arrangement, spring return, detent, pneumatic or assisted actuation.
Set the relief arrangement and choose open centre, carry-over or closed centre to suit the wider circuit.
Guided shortlist
Use the known circuit details to identify a likely HM family and model. The result is a shortlist for technical review, not a final valve specification.
Your result
Select the flow and number of functions where possible. Unknown answers are allowed and will be flagged for review.
Final selection also depends on spool function, pressure, relief setting, actuator behaviour, return conditions and the complete hydraulic circuit.
Physical model range
Model dimensions and mass help with packaging, but they do not define the internal spool or control configuration. Existing webshop records are linked by exact model code.

Compact single service
A separate one-spool 3/8-inch monoblock option that uses the HM3 positioner and control-accessory ecosystem. Confirm its exact spool and complete configuration for the application.
Configuration reference
The following tables explain the main public selection options. Availability and suitability still need confirming against the chosen family, spool and hydraulic circuit.
Spool choice determines which ports are connected or blocked in neutral and when the lever is moved. The same function family is available across HM3, HM7 and HM11, with family-specific float-spool suffixes.
Scroll sideways to compare all columns →
| Code | Acting | Positions | Neutral/function description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Double acting | 3 | A and B closed in neutral |
| 2 | Double acting | 3 | A and B open to tank in neutral |
| 3 | Single acting on A | 3 | B plugged |
| 4 | Single acting on B | 3 | A plugged |
| 6 | Double acting | 3 | A open to tank in neutral |
| 7 | Single acting on A | 3 | A open to tank in neutral; B plugged |
| 9 | Double acting | 3 | P, T, A and B closed in neutral |
| 5* | Double acting | 4 | Float function; exact suffix differs by family and spool direction |
* HM3 uses 5DY/5PY; HM7 and HM11 use family-specific 5/5VR arrangements. Confirm the correct float direction and positioner.
The positioner determines whether the spool returns to neutral, remains detented or is shifted pneumatically or electrically.

| Code | Function | Typical treatment |
|---|---|---|
| 8 | Spring return to neutral | Standard starting point for many manual services |
| 9 / 10 | Detent in one work position, spring return to neutral | Direction-specific |
| 11 | Detent in positions 1, neutral and 2 | Three-position detent |
| 12 | Detent in positions 1 and 2 | Work-position detent |
| 15 / 16 | Two-position detent covering neutral and one work position | Direction-specific |
| 8P | On/off pneumatic shifter | Available on request |
| EP3 | On/off electro-pneumatic shifter | 12 VDC or 24 VDC; available on request |
| ED3 | On/off electro-hydraulic control | 12 VDC or 24 VDC; available on request |
Dual-control, microswitch and special float positioners are also documented. Confirm the complete spool/positioner pairing before ordering.

| Code | Controller arrangement | Use in specification |
|---|---|---|
| L | Standard lever box | Conventional local manual operation |
| R | Standard lever box rotated 180° | Alternative packaging/orientation |
| SL | Without cover | For a specified external control arrangement |
| SLP | Without lever, with dust-proof plate | Protected non-lever arrangement |
| LR | Rotary control kit | Rotary actuation route |
| TQ | Cable connection | Remote mechanical control |
| LCB | Joystick control kit | Two-section manual joystick arrangement |
These options determine how the monoblock valve connects into the wider circuit. Do not choose them from the name alone; the pump type and downstream valves matter.

| HM code | Arrangement | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| AET | Open-centre plug | Open-centre outlet arrangement |
| AEK | Carry-over sleeve | Power-beyond/carry-over route for a correctly designed downstream circuit |
| AE | Closed-centre plug | Closed-centre outlet arrangement |

| Code | Adjustment range | Documented preset | Families |
|---|---|---|---|
| YG2 | 40-80 bar | 80 bar | HM3, HM7, HM11 |
| YG3 | 63-200 bar | 120 bar | HM3, HM7, HM11 |
| YG4 | 160-315 bar | 200 bar | HM3 and HM7 only |
| SV | Relief blanking port | Not applicable | HM3, HM7, HM11 |
The relief-cartridge adjustment range is not the valve working rating. HM3, HM7 and HM11 have a documented maximum opening pressure of 250 bar. The final relief setting must remain within the ratings of the valve, system and connected equipment.
Information and products
The model tables link to existing product pages by exact code. The populated webshop categories now provide separate routes for complete HM monoblock valves and their configuration accessories.
Technical and safety note
Hydraulic systems can store energy and release fluid at pressures capable of causing serious injury. Valve selection, installation, commissioning and maintenance must be completed by competent people using the machine documentation and applicable safety and machinery requirements.
Hydraulic Equipment Limited supplies and helps specify components; installation and on-vehicle servicing are not provided directly.
