HM monoblock control valves

Monoblock hydraulic valves configured around the circuit

Compare the compact HM3, mid-flow HM7 and high-flow HM11 families, then specify the spool functions, controls, relief and outlet arrangement around the machine and duty.

Choose the valve size

Three monoblock families, one configuration process

Start with the required flow, pressure, number of functions and port size. The final choice still depends on the complete hydraulic circuit and how each service must behave.

How we specify it

Build the configuration in the right order

A useful enquiry does not need a completed valve code. Tell us what the machine must do and we can work through the circuit details with you.

1

Application and duty

Describe the machine, actuator movements, loads, cycle frequency and any hold, float or regenerative functions.

2

Flow and pressure

Confirm expected pump flow, operating pressure, return-line conditions and acceptable back pressure.

3

Number of spools

Allow one correctly specified service section for each hydraulic function the valve must control.

4

Spool functions

Choose double or single acting behaviour, neutral flow paths, float and any special circuit requirement.

5

Control method

Select manual lever, cable or joystick arrangement, spring return, detent, pneumatic or assisted actuation.

6

Relief and outlet

Set the relief arrangement and choose open centre, carry-over or closed centre to suit the wider circuit.

Guided shortlist

Configure a starting point

Use the known circuit details to identify a likely HM family and model. The result is a shortlist for technical review, not a final valve specification.

Use expected pump flow, not actuator speed alone.
Usually one correctly selected spool per function.

Your result

Enter the known details

Select the flow and number of functions where possible. Unknown answers are allowed and will be flagged for review.

Final selection also depends on spool function, pressure, relief setting, actuator behaviour, return conditions and the complete hydraulic circuit.

Physical model range

Compare spool count, size and mass

Model dimensions and mass help with packaging, but they do not define the internal spool or control configuration. Existing webshop records are linked by exact model code.

What the option codes change

The following tables explain the main public selection options. Availability and suitability still need confirming against the chosen family, spool and hydraulic circuit.

Spool functions

Spool choice determines which ports are connected or blocked in neutral and when the lever is moved. The same function family is available across HM3, HM7 and HM11, with family-specific float-spool suffixes.

Scroll sideways to compare all columns →

CodeActingPositionsNeutral/function description
1Double acting3A and B closed in neutral
2Double acting3A and B open to tank in neutral
3Single acting on A3B plugged

6Double acting3A open to tank in neutral
7Single acting on A3A open to tank in neutral; B plugged
9Double acting3P, T, A and B closed in neutral
5*Double acting4Float function; exact suffix differs by family and spool direction

* HM3 uses 5DY/5PY; HM7 and HM11 use family-specific 5/5VR arrangements. Confirm the correct float direction and positioner.

A-side positioners and assisted control

The positioner determines whether the spool returns to neutral, remains detented or is shifted pneumatically or electrically.

EP3On/off electro-pneumatic shifter12 VDC or 24 VDC; available on request
ED3On/off electro-hydraulic control12 VDC or 24 VDC; available on request

Dual-control, microswitch and special float positioners are also documented. Confirm the complete spool/positioner pairing before ordering.

Outlet and centre arrangements

These options determine how the monoblock valve connects into the wider circuit. Do not choose them from the name alone; the pump type and downstream valves matter.

The relief-cartridge adjustment range is not the valve working rating. HM3, HM7 and HM11 have a documented maximum opening pressure of 250 bar. The final relief setting must remain within the ratings of the valve, system and connected equipment.

Information and products

Understand the range, then browse exact models

The model tables link to existing product pages by exact code. The populated webshop categories now provide separate routes for complete HM monoblock valves and their configuration accessories.

Technical and safety note

Confirm the complete hydraulic system

Hydraulic systems can store energy and release fluid at pressures capable of causing serious injury. Valve selection, installation, commissioning and maintenance must be completed by competent people using the machine documentation and applicable safety and machinery requirements.

Hydraulic Equipment Limited supplies and helps specify components; installation and on-vehicle servicing are not provided directly.
